Do you clean your fuge macro algae?

My macro has a decent amount of detritus in it. Just wondering what others do as far as maintenance. Please poll up and add any additional comments!

I trim mine from time to time and when I do a water change I take it out and shake it off.

I pick some out occasionally, but I've never cleaned mine...until today. There was nothing in it. I have so much water flow on mine I guess it stays clean.

Thanks! Love to hear some more practices. I haven't cleaned mine yet. But I think it could use it. I'm a little nervous to grab the whole thing out. Should I break it up into sections before I do? It's also FULL of feather dusters that live in it. Will those get damaged if I pull it out and shake it?

Nah it wont get damaged just rip off what you are trimming and sell/throw out and give the rest you are wanting to save a good shake. I also added some hermits and two snails to my sump to help me keep it clean.

2 parts vinegar, 1 part vodka daily....

Every so often (no real specific timeframe) I will shake it out in the sump with the return off, and skimmer running rip off some and either toss it all back in there or throw some out (if its the night before garbage goes out) lol

I don't have my fuge set up yet but when I ran one on my last tank, I never did. I would only cut some off when it grew but I will shake it on this one once it's set up

I never clean mine off. I have alot of cyano in my fuge also but i just let it grow out because it is never in my main display.

I've got a small ph in my fuge area. Keep the chaeto moving about. Other then that I just leave it alone.

Since I don't have a lot of flow in my fuge, I do get a bit of detritus in the cheato so I pull it out shake it off and trim it every couple months.

buying macroalgae from ebay for example Pom Pom, i got a make sure it doesn't have any type of diseases, any feedback how i can treat that planet should i coral dip it or?
