Do you ever have issues keeping specific coral?

I've heard from some people that zoas are hard for them to keep, but others have these vast colonies.
In my main tank I have Angels that muller them but in my nano I can’t figure them out.

For me it's goni's. I have one now that I've had for about 2 months and it has yet to open.
Another is the raja rampage chalice, for whatever reason i have 3 other chalices that are doing fine.

My Achille's Heel are the open brain corals: trachy's, lobos, acanthos, etc. They are some of my favorites and I've hate to think how many thousands of $$ I've flushed. They look great for a time, then suddenly recede and die. I've given up! Meanwhile I have zoas, blastos, leather coral, mushroom corals, all that I've had to yank out like weeds.

Zoanthus for me. They'll do well for a little while, but then they'll shrivel up and die due to me neglecting to do water changes for a little while or some other reason.

Isn't it funny how some coral will just multiply like crazy, but others we keep shrivel up and die?

Torches are tough for me. Haven't tried one in a long time but I used to have a super healthy New York Knicks that decided to suddenly be unhappy and eventually die. Haven't tried one since then. I prefer Hammers anyway.

Wild Elegance are also a big challenge, but I've been having recent luck with aquacultured variants.

I'm on the can't grow Zoas team and this just breaks my heart because they are the reason I wanted to get into reefing. On the other hand, some of my first coral frags that I've recently found out are hard or considered "experienced" are growing like gangbusters and I'm not doing the things you are "supposed" to do. I've got a goni that is really happy going on his 9th month, an Oolophyllia maze brain that is so full of himself and puts outs 80 million sweeper tentacles and eats every chance he gets, I've got a field of Pulsing Zenia, an Elegance I nursed back from the dead that is huge now. But my zenias just melt away...

I almost joined the Can't Grow Zoa gang, but somehow, mine just came back from the dead and are doing good again.
