Do you feed more as your tank matures ?

Always wondered as your tank matures do you have to provide more food “nutrients “ to keep the beneficial stuff around ?
Love to hear other peoples input

If one is truly keeping a tank yes. As the fish grow they require more food. As coral colonies get larger their feeding requirements as well as dosing increases naturally.

I’m loving your tank , the gsp carpet is top notch. Also thanks for the input I have a total of 16 corals 2 fish 2 shrimp in a 20. I only get the chance to feed once a day. So I try to feed a good amount

With all the feeding i do I also replace my filter floss every other day to keep any uneaten food from breaking down in my water. Happy reefing!

I have lost some picky tenuis and millies but I have a pretty happy mixed reef… like i said i replace mechanical filtration every other day. I have an oversized skimmer and i use GFO as well as running an algae scrubber. As long as I keep a decent maintenance routine it’s working great! I try to do water changes every 2-3 weeks removing as much detritus as possible also.

P03 is usually between .10 -.15 which is what my tank seems happy at.
Nitrates usually hover around 16 don’t go any higher.
I do a 5 gallon water change every week and change filter floss every other day.
And have chemi pure blue in the back

I definitely feed heavier in my more mature 3 year old reef tank. The fish are larger and the coral biomass is much higher as well. I feed pretty heavily everyday and my nutrients hover around 10-15ppm nitrates and 0.08-0.15ppm phosphates. My nutrient management consists of filter floss changed twice a week, skimmer, refugium and chemi-pure blue (changed about every 2 months). Occasionally, I'll run some ROWAphos if the phosphates creep up higher than I like them but it's not often that I need to. I also do weekly 10-15% water changes.

My 120 is 26 months old now.
Im at 8+ cubes a day.
I practice heavy in/out.
Filter sock and oversized skimmer gets the job done.
With my 30g remote fuge I am feeding 17 fish.
I am at the point of having to thin it out weekly.
Here is a colony I removed.
