What's the current school of thought on feeding this coral.

Lights out and my Acan expands and displays a feeding response. So I am feeding crushed pellet and frozen.
My concern is the peppermint shrimp injurying the acan going after the food even though the shrimp is heavily feed.
I am really not into starting acropower or reef roids again
Do you feed your Acan?

I feed mine a mix of mysis copepods and plankton. Why don't you want to restart acropower or reef roids?

I do feed my Acans. A mix of Reef Roids, zooplankton, Hikari Coral Gumbo & Rotifiers. And recently one Acan consumed a Peppermint shrimp. So, they are pretty well fed.

I haven't in a while because my Pintail Fairy Wrasse will eat the food right out of their mouths, but I do dump reef roids in the water twice a week. When I did spot feed my acans I used a mix of reef roids and mysis shrimp.

I feed each head a whole mysis at least once a week.

Yes, they love food! At night I put some reef snow in. In the morning I use a little Goniopower and sometimes target feed mysis. They are used to my feeding schedule and will have feeders out most of the day.

Worried about Cyano. I really had to dial down the dose last time I used it. Guess I will be reconsider that option.

Do you have any crabs or shrimp?
Do you feel that direct feeding increase growth?

Exactly I am going to have to put some effort into training.
Right now the coral only responds to feeding when the lights are out which makes it more vulnerable to crabs and shrimp.

I have two emeralds and two peppermint shrimp, the peppermints mess with my scoly occasionally when I feed it, but not my acans. I do feel that direct feeding increases growth, absolutely. I also do not like feeding my lps reef roids like is so common these days; I have much better results in comparison with mysis.

Target feed reef roids and other stuff. I use a 24" acrylic tube with a nozzle on one side and a bulb on the other end. Works great for getting the food to the intended items.

Like this, but I got mine local

I give them a dusting of reefroids once a week
