Do you have a Foxface?

My one spot ‘Rocky’ is a real character! Has a fantastic appetite, doesn’t bother corals and gets on well with everything else - but a total coward! He can sense a glass clean from a mile away, you’d think he’d be used to it by now!
He’s also formed a very close partnership with a Melenarus Wrasse, they go everywhere together!

I've been fish keeping 30+ years, reefing for 10 years and have never had a Foxface. I want to add one, can you post photos of yours and tell me about them. Good with other fish? coral?
I like bi color foxface the best. They can be skittish but it just depends on personality. I’ve had some that aren’t. Most other fish leave them alone. Eat anything. Great algae eaters. I’ve always had one. Very hardy.

I have had three. A foxface lo for over 6 years. Loved that fish. Ate all bubble algae and never bothered anything else. I kept clams with it too.
I then got a two bar rabbitfish I lost in a tank move. It was with me a year and no issues.
Then my last one was a magnificent foxface that slept too close to my haddoni and was eaten overnight. Found in morning. Not a happy person.
I miss mine, but I am not sure I will get another with my current set up.

This dull yellow is the MOST yellow I could ever get out of my Foxface— and to show it wasn’t my water parameters or feeding habits, the second photo shows the yellow on two other fish in the same tank.

Mine was fine with the glass cleaner until I upset the tank trying to introduce a tang, I now have to hold the wet side cleaner and do it by hand as he freaks if I use it with the magnet!

I wanted a bicolor foxface, but found a small quarantined orange spot rabbitfish and got him instead. I love mr nibbles...he has a molted pattern also when being bullied or sleeping. I’ve noticed he eats constantly, either from the nori clip or the tank algae. He hangs out with the calmer fish, follows them around. He has noticeably grown in the month I’ve had him...overall he’s a pleasant fish to have!

I have two of them in the same tank. They get along great. Always displaying strong yellow colors. They are never hiding. Getting two to live peacefully was not easy though. I plan to add either a bicolor or magnificent to my second tank.

I have a one spot foxface and as mentioned a great algae eater. It was very shy when small, but it grew fast. Within three years it grew to about 7” from 3” and it very outgoing now... just be careful because their spines are venomous. I’ve been hit by lion fish and this guy was worse. It got me while cleaning one day....a lot of hot water.

I had an 8yr old one, but the clownfish harassed it to death. Great fish. Bold & bright yellow. Not really a good algae picker like the scopas, but definitely added colorful movement
