I was just thinking and wanted to ask I any of you have an in case of emergency plan for you reef.
This could be do to health issue, unexpected travel, a delay in travel or other reasons

significant other forgets to feed the fish while you are away

I see spouse but what about adding other family members? This would include aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, ext. I personally have my parents available and they know enough for emergencies and then my uncle is close by and he used to run an aquarium maintenance company with about 15 salt aquariums a few years back. All of them did well while he maintained them. If a serious emergency comes up while I am away he would have the know how to take care of it and probably has extra equipment to use if need be.

I think you should add "other family members" to the poll. just my .02

My spouse would be able to handle running the reef plus we're friends with a few fish stores in the area that would help if needed. There's always good people in this hobby that would be willing to help as well.

Not entirely sure how to answer this. I typically don't use anyone to tend to my tanks when I am away. Well meaning novices are more likely to be net unhelpful than net helpful. If you're talking a true emergency, then you're going to need somebody that really knows what they are doing. I've never had this happen, but if it did, I'd call the LFS with a maintenance service.

Note taken and add family to the poll

It is alway good to have a back up to a back plan, especially if the person is a pro.

This is kind of why I am posting a thread. I figured other could see what other do.

For example if there is a medical emergency and if all the family is present and who else to we go to and do other know this plan? LFS is a great option:)

But just have the plan is one thing but what if you are both out for a couple of days is there a written plan that @Lovemyreef2015 can call?

Absolutely, a couple stores programmed in our phones would be able to handle the needs of the tank. Now that I think of it, I can't just message @jsker :D

I am not to far away:D but what would I do when I got there, beside looking for a cold beverage:rolleyes::D:D

I think I will write out a plan this afternoon:)

That's a great idea, writing out a plan in detail. The drinks are always cold my friend.

The more and more that we answer back and forth it make sense to have a detail written plan.

I’m gonna call you ! Lol @jsker

In all seriousness my wife and daughter can handle the minimums. Adding top off water and feedings. When I’ve had emergency’s in the past depending on what it was, I left work .... emergency phone call of course. All of my co workers know how deep I’m into this including my boss. No issues at all ... they understand the investment I have. This has only happened once in the last several years.

No problem, it will take a couple of hours together there.:D 6+;Hilarious;Hilarious

Lest say you, the whole family are out of town, and delayed getting back. The person that you have looking after things, has something come up and you call a friend that has no Ideas what to do with your system has a start. This is were my thoughts are going. Having the emergency, emergency list so that someone can at least know how the system is setup and what to do until you get there.;)

My wife knows to contact two reefing buddies, in the untimely event of my death, to quickly dismantle the tank and get it out of the house. I know it’s not the exact thrust of this thread, but still relevant.

Buddies get to keep whatever they want, and the rest can go to the local club.
