I just read about these guys and was wondering if people use these in there tank and when they are introduced in? For anyone who didn't know, like me, these little guys eat Aiptasia, and only Aiptasia. I don't have corals but looks to add soon and didn't know if these should be added before an aiptasia outbreak starts or without it will they starve. I'd love to know how many people have these in their tank.

I would really only add them once you have a known Aiptasia problem, and by this I mean quit a few visible ones. Since they only eat Aiptasia, putting them in without a viable food source will only be starving them and killing them.

Plus they are expensive as heck so I would only use them as a last resort lol

Just recently added, but have heard good things. I agree that they shouldn't be added unless needed.

That's what I thought, however, what I was reading said that they don't do much until they start to reproduce so I didn't know if they would be added earlier.

I never saw aptasia in my tank until just recently at the 2 yr mark. Hopefully you never get any and don't have a need for them.

Does QT or coral dips help with aiptasia? My LFS has very clean fish tanks, but their coral tank is full of aiptasia and so I have been researching other places to buy corals because I wasn't sure of any good way to get rid of it and I didn't want to introduce it into my DT.

I’ve read before that Aiptasia can survive a coral dip. Unfortunately, most reefers will encounter Aiptasia. Most just deal with it and manage it through livestock or manual eradication.
