Hello wondering if anyone knows what this is?? I purchased some cured live rock and I noticed this today I just want to make sure that it’s not bad for the tank
Thank you

looks like aiptasia or majano, not a big deal

set rock out on counter, take a flathead medium screwdriver cleaned off tip, tap up under it and release it along with a chunk of rock, rinse, set back.

if another one pops up, same, just garden them out. if you choose to forego this and do a retail option, welcome to aiptasiaville by April. you wouldn't change the live rock out for different, I think I saw this already in another post maybe. this hitchhiker is better than dinos, which is what you get with dry rock.

we'd simply make your current rock comply, like a dentist would do to a noncompliant tooth. that anemone is a patch of plaque on your dentin.

It looks to be Aiptasia which is an anemone. It will spread throughout the tank so be careful. But if you want to get rid of it try Aiptasia X or a more natural approach in getting Aiptasia eating filefish or peppermint shrimp. Know that natural prey sometimes will not go after the Aiptasia right away.

Also try to get a filter to send photos since the blue light gets absorbed.

This is some better photos

ID isn't required, just the action choice you have to retail purchase it and get 20 more, or fix the one as it sits. these are a sign of good, diverse rock not bad rock. needs to be handled like a dandelion in the fescue, we just rip it out with a butter knife roots and all.

I do vote aiptasia. I had one

once :)
