Cory catfish: Never, you would cut yourself!

Neon tetras: Na, i have tried but there to hard to catch.

Dwarf gourami: Bro, the gourami's SCARY. He looks viscous, but his not vicious.

Betta: Yes all the time. I think hes the only fish i do pet.

Cherry shrimp: If you cant guess this one you have no common sense.

Snails: Sometimes, ye.
Those are not venomous or saltwater .

I was stung by a foxface. .
I will say it’s a lot worse than a bee sting !
He stung my right hand. .
It throbbed and swelled instantly .
and what ever it’s venom is , it went into my body straight to my sinuses .
plugged everything up solid on my left side of my face Along with the worse headache imaginable for 2 weeks ……

FYI …
Every time stung by them will get a little
Worse .
so you might not feel much the first time .
but the 5th or 10th could do a lot more
Well **** that sounds scary. I have only gotten hit once so my experience was no where near as bad as yours

No. Hands out of the tank for many reasons. I pet my wife and kids not my fish :)

My cichlids attacked me in the past, have been sung by various catfish. nowadays clowns and Scopas tang attacks my hand occasionally.

pike also clumped my hand when we were fishing with my dad about 30 years ago.

I pet my dog ……
I try to keep my hands out of my tank as much as possible now .

I am curious if anyone else pets their fishies?

I have a fox face that allows me to pet him and scratch his belly. Heck even my mom likes to press him against the glass and he just chills there for a while and when he's done he just swims away.

I've heard some people say its bad for the fish as it can lower the immunity and I can understand that point, but personally I feel that it shows that the fish trusts you enough to allow you to hold them. I was able to transfer him from the display to the QT tank a few months ago by using my hands instead of a net and he was fine.

P.S. I have gotten stung before by the fish and it was itchy, but my brother got in on his wrist and he described it as a bee sting.
It was my understanding that fish have a mucous on their skin that protects them from fungal and bacterial infection. I would stick to just feeding them by hand. My Fox face is fairly fearless too and will often nibble at my fingers when I place flakes in the water. Raspy little nibble.

My fox face insists on eating out of my hand ... He lays his spines down while he eats. He even recognizes me over other family members. They're weirdly sensitive.

Very cool OP!

No, I wish my clowns would let me! I imagine if I had a big tank with tangs, I could accomplish this feat. But with my current stock, no way.

the store I got to had a 9 inch unicorn tang and he would swim up to people lay on its side and want to get touched. After they would pet him he took off and came back when someone new arrived.

It was a really cool but they sold the fish and the new owner ended up leaving the fish in the car while he went to the store and it died the same day they took it

Very cool. My cleaner shrimp will hop on my arm when I'm cleaning or have my hand in the tank for any reason. I've also played tug of war with my starcki damsel over a piece of scallop I was trying to get out. I have a trigger who would probably eat out of my hand but I don't wanna try it. lol

There was a puffer at the fish store who liked getting fed by hand, no way I was sticking my hand in there

I used to but then the clown wanted to start going on walks and then the blenny got jealous and I had to start throwing the frisbee around with them all. Wish I'd never started it...it's all the time now and then they get all moody when i just want to relax.

hes just interacting with you. their only 'hands' are their mouths. my clown does almost the same thing, nibbles for a sec and hangs around for a minute swimming near my hand.

My sharknose goby bites me
