Do You QT Your New Coral???

Looking for input on a QT set up for new corals coming into my DT.
In the past I have done a one dip in Bayer pesticide and then straight into the frag tank for a few weeks then placed into the DT.
I feel that process is going to bite me in the butt sooner or later.
How do you you raise the chances of not adding bugs to your DT???

You've gone one step further than me. I dip then put right in display. I don't want to run additional frag and fish quarantine tanks , so I take my chances. Get red bugs once in a while, but luckily nothing more. And I've been at this for 21 years so knock on wood!

From what I understand the dip (Bayer) kills most of the bugs, most of the time. Maybe all of them all of the time. But what about the eggs? How long is the egg cycle ? Should you dip every 3-4 days? 7-10 days? 14-16 days?
I have also been told to cut off the incoming frag plug up to and including a small section of the live flesh of the coral. Dip it . reglue to a new plug.
Then what QT until the next round of dip?
Guess I am looking for a "safe" time line between dips

I quarantine corals for a week. They get two dips on arrival and an additional dip a week later before they go to DT. Monties stay a week more a get a couple more dips to make sure they're clean. If I find any pests its 5 weeks in quarantine with weekly dips for all corals the. 2 weeks observation. I'm considering a tank transfer method after the dip as if the quarantine is infested it could continue to reinfect the corals after the dip. Main disadvantages:
No new corals on the week a new batch gets in or it's a reset for all the corals.
If quarantine is infected it needs to be restarted.
Corals do struggle a bit and loose some color which is easier to swallow than some of the pests.
Once had a large coral batch go in with around 15 mini colonies, maintaining parameters in a small tank volume was hell and I lost them all.
I try to remove the plugs on arrival and either place on new plugs or glue on my rock work as I find pests can hide in holes in the cement.

Good questions. I love this system so far. Equipment has been well, I overtightened the screws on the skimmer and broke it and had to buy a new one. Dip wise I might be increasing the length of time and ratio as things are still getting through, so far nothing really serious, but things nonetheless. I do wish I had a controller on it and I may do that in the future. But this system has helped A TON. My only true regret is not doing this sooner. It not only gives me a chance to catch any bad guys but corals can get acclimated and grow out a bit and let me learn what they like/need.
