Do you run carbon?

In media bag. Always!

24/7 with BRS reactor. I have it set to turn off if the ORP gets above 450, which never happens. Not really sure of the right trigger to replace it though. Been doing it every 3rd water change.

After running carbon in my tank continuously since I started reefing.... I stopped over a year ago and have not run any since.

Can't really say I've noticed any difference.

I have leathers too. maybe I ought to put some back in at least for a little while.

24/7 passively. Too much going on in the house to risk an inadvertent “something” going in. Also the tank is in the front room where you enter. Any smell and it would lose the WAF.

How many of you are running GAC? Actively or passively?

I haven't run any in ages but I noticed during my last water change the old water was fairly colored.
I am active user of GAC, mostly to minimize yellow water. It works. I have also seen examples from public aquaria that, contrary to manufacturers recommendations, GAC works months (!) to reduce organic matter. I have also witnessed that old GAC works to keep color minimized. I change GAC (2 cups per 100 gallons) every three months. There is even a scientific paper out there that suggests that in seawater, GAC may support bacteria that eats the organic that GAC absorbs, essentially keeping it active a long time. So, don’t be bashful, just use it…in a reactor is optimal.
