I was thinking about this this morning as I was eating breakfast. I have been in this hobby for about a year now. When I first started, I fought the urge to do things fast (as we all do to some extent). I wanted to fill that tank up! To have a tank full of coral and fish and a beautiful aquascape is my ultimate goal, so why wouldn't I just do it?

Obviously this hobby is a lot of trial and error. Learning through mistakes, and thanks to this great forum, learning through others mistakes :D

Something I have found myself doing more recently is setting goals or milestones to reach before I move on to the next addition to my tank, the next upgrade, or the next project. Sometimes my goal is getting that nuisance algae "under control" before I add another coral. Sometimes it's seeing x amount of growth on this or that SPS before I buy the next fish. The goal doesn't always correlate with the "prize", but it helps me stay on track and not over-indulge myself.

What kind of goals do you set? Or am I just a weirdo :p

I am definitely not a very goal oriented person. This is a very accurate description of how my brain works.
