I have. I do waste water treatment for a living. Getting a little salt water from my aqurium in my mouth is nothing if you get where I'm going with this.

I don't care if I sip some tank water because I am not a Sissy or Girly Man. The only problem is that I when I siphon, I can't stop so I drink so much water that the fish and crabs are left doing the macarana on the dry gravel.
They hate that.

I started a siphon for my turtle tank by mouth once, got some in my mouth too. The water is greener than a Bali slimmer so I went vomited and washed my mouth out with alcohol and barfed again lol I'm ashamed with myself still

Mine is about a 25' hose so I have plenty of warning before the saltwater ever gets to the end. You can feel the air rushing out then you know your good.

One time while working in a lfs I was starting a siphon on a 300 gal live rock curing tank with 600 lbs af fresh foul rock with a 50ft garden hose I managed to inhale a huge amount of water. Will never do that again.
