Hi,
Im trying vibrant on turf algae. Ive used vibrant in the past on GHA and it was very effective, but a few months after I discontinued use- cyano appeared and then turf algae appeared. Im doing more water changes/increased flow/stabilizing all the parameters in the tank again- but Is it recommended to do a maintenance dose of vibrant indefinitely or is it safe to discontinue abruptly or do you need to wean your tank off it or replace with carbon dosing or something else etc? Ive read a lot of people have issues after stopping use or that it screws up your tank etc. Thoughts? Thanks!
(Added info- my tank is a 4yr old mixed reef 220g. The original gha issue was due to a month long coral overfeeding situation that went unnoticed before it was too late. Once it took hold, it was near impossible to get rid of- even in a low nutrient tank. After the vibrant cleared the gha- the tank went back to its usual state- Ca: 430, alk 10, mag, 1400, phos 0 (hanna), ph 8.2, sal 1.026 nitrates 5. Never had turf algae before or cyano- not sure where its coming from or why! thanks!)

If your worried the algae or cyanobacteria will reappear you can keep going with the once a week maintenance dose.

After 9 weeks of using vibrant, it cleared all my green stuff out.
For the last year I have continued with Vibrant but half dose every two weeks, instead of full dose weekly.
No problems thus far except for a green free tank.
My guess is that this aggressive algae in a bottle doesn’t replicate itself well in aquaria.
