Do you take your frags off the plugs

Wondering if anyone takes the frags off the plugs and mounts them directly to live rock? If you are taking them off, what are you mounting them with.

Yes unless they are fully encrusted then I just cut the bottom tab off plug. I mount them with super glue gel and frag mounting putty. Ball of putty and a dab of super glue on each side sick frag on and then place on mounting location.

^^^ Exactly, just depends on how encrusted it is. Fresh cut frags I usually do and mount to LR.

If I cannot remove the frag from the plug, I will take a pair of bonecutters and cut off as much of the plug as possible before mounting to a rock.

I also do this. I have maybe 2-4 with plugs.

Fresh frags I immediately take them off and glue on LR. I do have some SPS that have fully encrusted the plug and engulfed the live rock.

All the time! Usually I try and get the frag off the plug before I dip my corals and put them on new frag plugs or glue them to rocks. Once I have a decent number of frag plugs that I have removed I bleach them so I can use them again.

For gluing them to my rocks/plugs I use the gel super glue. It dries underwater too so if I need to apply a little more I can use it in the tank while holding the frag in place.

I do take my frags off the plugs after a couple weeks and they are settled in.
I use a big glob of superglue gel on the bottom of the frag and just squish it down on a rock. I usually look for a little hole or hollow spot to give it a little extra support.

Just tried tonight for the first time, a lot less resistance removing the coral than I thought, easy process that I thought would prove more difficult. Left plugged frags in tank for a month to figure out flow and PAR rates but once I figured out the sweet spots I mounted them.

I try to remove plugs as much as possible that way the coral can encrust on the rocks so I can't move it around every week lol

For me it depends on the coral, size of the coral, and where it is going. The ones I keep in/on the sand I try and keep the plug on. If I am gluing to a rock I usually remove. For me it really doesn't matter in the end if it is on a plug or not.

I cut all my frags off any plugs or rock bace………….I was told that it where red bugs and flat worms lay their eggs and dip don't kill eggs so if left on a week later they are hatching in your tank.

I go as far as only buying fresh cut frags.
