I have a 20 long QT, inside I have a large submersible filter. There is a medium sized tank in this tank. I installed an Aqua Clear HOB 29 days ago. So do think it's safe to remove the big submersible filter? Thanks !

Gotta give myself a bump here. I know posts move "quick" on a Friday eve. I have an Am badge & water to swap out and all but would rather not go thru the hassle. I really need the tank Qt this week end . Thanks

Have you tested for ammonia, nitrite and nitrates?

Hello Josh for the reply, No Am's No trites, high trates. Doing a w/t now.

Well I'd say you are good to go then if you're concerned you could always leave the sponge from the submersible in the QT to keep your bacteria population up until you're more comfortable. After adding your new fish to the QT just keep an eye on the badge and test for the first few days to make sure your bacteria can handle the bioload you've added. WC as needed and you're set

Edit just realized you have a fish already in there, I'd say you're still good to go either way.

That's what I figured , This big submersible is taking too much space. I'll keep the sponges & add a couple to the new filter.
Hey in my 1st response I didn't mean "hell Josh" greeting I missed the o! sorry about that. Thank's & have a Merry Christmas.

AHA I honestly didn't even notice that, either way it's all good. And any time, glad to help out, Merry Christmas to you as Well!!! I hope all goes well with the rest of your QT adventures:) I'm having my own right now so I know what it's like.

Today I pulled the submersible& put a couple of the pads from it in the AquaClear. That will help seed it further. This box I removed worked reallly well. I'll be storing it for later use. So now the Q/T is complete lots of room & Tang Boy has a couple of pvc tubes to hide in. Merry Christmas Everybody !
