he moved to the top couple days ago and now looks like he’s splitting

I’m not sure, my BTA’s stay attached to the rocks when they split. Don’t move. Why he’s at the top maybe something else. What are your perimeters and how long have you had it?
 
Doesnt appear as such.
Take a look at your light and flow. When an anemone moves, it may be too much flow. When it reaches that high in your tank, its in search of light. If too much light, will hide

had him and a month all levels are good
 
No, doesn't look to be splitting.

They can go in all kinds of weird shapes. Sometimes I'll look over and think one of mine has already split, but it turns out just to be the shape it's currently in. Every day they pretty much extend in different ways.

Mine don't move when they split. The original foot is in the exact same place it's been for the past 2 years.

That it's moving around is a sign that it's looking for a better place to be.
