Do you think it's safe to get a Tahitian?

My lfs has has some beautiful Tahitians since September of 2012. They ordered over 90 and there are only about 30 people who shop there so they have about 60 left.

They're about 5-6 inches. I'd be getting the one in front all the way to the right. I like the green

I have heard of a few people keeping them longer than 6 months, but the vast majority have just up and died for no apparent reason. I lost three myself, but every other clam in my tank is thriving. I know they are tempting, but I'll never buy another one.

If you find one you like that shows good mantle extension and good overall health I'd get it. Just watch out.

It depends on how much they are asking. I only paid $40 each for my little ones that are going down hill. For $40, I'd try again. For over $100, I'd pass.
