As the titles states, I am looking for feedback as to who uses a lens tripod mount over their camera tripod mount. I recently purchased a Canon 100mm Macro lens and some Kenko extension tubes and I am curious if I will also be needing to purchase a lens tripod collar to add stability and strength to my set up. I have read that the weight of the lens and multiple extension tubes could add stress to camera body. Camera is Canon 70D.

After thought... Is there a way to support the camera at both the Lens and the Camera Body?

Thank you for your time.

you can probably get away with it for tank photo's since you won't be moving around like you would outdoors. I have a Sigma 150mm macro and always use the collar with tripod and mono-pod. you must really want to get close to use extension tubes on a macro.

Lol yeah I'm looking to get close. I am real into it. So you don't think it will be an issue if I go without one?
