Do you use dual return pumps?

So I have a 750gph return pump. I also have a 550gph return pump on standby.

I was thinking about plumbing it in to the existing system. My 750 is a bit under powered and thought I could add this second pump instead of the expense of a newer, more powerful replacement of the one currently in use.

My plan would be to install a "T" fitting and have each pump feed one side of the "T".

Thoughts?

Pumps wear out. Running two pumps is more maintenance, electricity, upkeep, and replacement costs long term. I’d suggest running 1 pump appropriately sized. Keep the others for other uses or backup. But this seems like a really inefficient solution.

If you want to run two pumps have them plumbed separately.

Two pumps if plumbed separately is better than one for redundancy. Always have a backup in case one fails. But even then if one goes out at least you still have some flow.
