I’ve always read mixed reviews on some people vacuuming their sandbeds and others claiming if the sandbed is 2” or deeper you don’t need to. I have a feeling it might be a good idea on older tanks using the gravel style siphon vacuum during a routine water change. Let me know if you vacuum or not? If you do share if you noticed an all around improvement in your reef tank by using the sandbed vacuum method.

I always have, but with my CUC and goby I am about to start an experiment where I don't.

No, but I have a bunch of sand sleeping wrasses to turn it over; and my vortech pumps move it around.

Every now and again but mainly leave it up to my criiters, I have syphoned out some of the sand and replaced it though.
IMO the thicker the sand bed the more dangerous they are to mess with.
