Just curious. If water change time comes and before you start All your tests are lookin good, do you still do the water change? My tank was looking amazing. Water change day came my nitrates were 2
Phosphates .04
Alk 7.6
Salinity 1.026
Mag 1520
cal504
0tds rodi water from my rodi system

i was questioning even doing the water change because everything was looking so good. Usually my nitrates and phosphates are a little higher. And my tank usually looks a bit more dirty. But it was water change day so i did it. Immediately everything got sad lol.one thing i know was messed up the new water was 2 degrees colder i figured it Would be ok. Another thing i was thinking if the water change brought my nitrates and phosphates too low. But everything is back happy again so Anyway, my question is if everything is looking good in your tank and all your tests look good do you personally still do the water change?

For me its about stability. Your water probably tested perfect because you maintain a good schedule. If you skip then your parameters can get out of whack and the swing made by your next water change will be more extreme...

Generally no unless I feel like my tank is lacking in trace elements. I guess that could be dosed manually anyways. I think you have to weigh whether or not a water change would do more good than harm depending on your tank’s parameters. Personally, If I saw 2ppm nitrates and .04 ppm phosphates, I would not do a water change for fear of lowering those values.

Hmm.. i agree with both of your replies. Definitely 2 points of views that i been battling with. Do I change it to keep the schedule and stability or do i push it out a bit for the nutrients to get higher. Thank for the replies guys. I was just curious what you guys would personally do.
