Do they go on the sandbed and rocks? After dipping does one need to have the tank be fallow ad if yes, for how long?

I've seen them on rocks and glass, never the sand. That doesn't mean they don't go there though. Most times you will find them in the zoas they are eating unless they have run out of food and are in search for more. I'm not sure how long they can last without zoas or if zoas are even their only food source. I usually just dip and then return the coral to the tank and continue observing and dipping if I see more. They can be hard to spot though as their body takes on the color of the zoas they are munching on. Best bet is to get a turkey baster and lightly blow water over the zoas to get them to close. Then you can see between them and tell the nudi from the zoas. Also check for eggs, most dips wont kill the eggs. They have to be removed manually.

Everything you say makes sense. My eyes are old so seeing them and the eggs is a challenge. Has anyone used Flatworm Exit to kill them? I've heard it disintegrates them.

I've been using CoraRx exclusively but now I will only use Bayer!

I've seen them on all of the above before...to me they are one of the easiest pests to catch though. You'll usually see zoos closed up with bite marks running through them...then just keep your eye out for a feathery looking worm. I haven't had them in years but when i did the problem was easy to solve

Flatworm exit will work. You need to make sure when doing it you keep an eye on it for 24hrs scoop as many of them to can out. Change filter socks the next day and 20%water change . Repeat as needed over a few weeks .

Also make sure after adding after a hour or 2 you start to turkey baste everything really good I tear them from the rocks and coral.

Or and as well you can get a six line wrasse . A really good fish to have . But they are and sometimes tend to be aggressive .

My systems total almost 400g so easy is not in my vocabulary. Add senior citizen to that and bite marks are not easily seen. I've been religious at dipping all these years but it just goes to show that no matter how careful one is, things can and do eventually happen...

I think you are referring to flatworms, not nudi's. lol My problem is zoa-eating nudi's unfortunately. I have heard that Flatworm Exit will kill the nudi's and I am wondering if other zoa keepers have used it in tank. If you have, would you kindly tell me your treatment regime with the Flatworm Exit? I figure if I am having to dip 400-500 zoas in Bayer, I need an in-tank treatment to be completely thorough. {I do not have enough QT tanks to house all the z/p's.} Any help is greatly appreciated:0)

Yes flatworm exit will kill the nudis . After using flatworm exit in your tank you need to do A 20% waterchange. You thin you will get all in one shot but that never works so you need to repeat I till no more vissable signs of nudis are there.

By you removing all the zoas is not going to help in any way. Nudis are in your rock work as well. Of course eggs too but don't know how long you think you had them.

Go off the box for the treatment . For a 100g system I think it is 90drops use the salifert brand .

Ok:0) I'm not sure how long I have had them, hopefully, not long! I found 1 large one last night...I thought it was a new polyp...Not! It was on a frag I received last week. I found 2 small ones a week ago. So they could be from another shipment or, newly hatched. Do you know the timeframe between laying eggs and hatching?

I am not too sure . BUT GOOGLE IS Y BEST FRIEND! Be sure to ask us as well as google . I think if I'm not mistaken with in a few days or maybe a week . Not to sure I'm saying this before I look it up.

Thank you for your insight and help!!! I will read it now! If you think of anything else, post itup! Thanks again Rob and Gab!!

Thanks again and thank you mfinn for the link! I continue to have another question however as I cannot find it in Salifert's info or in the Practical Coral Farming. How long should I treat the tanks with the FWE in it? Then do a 25% water change?

I've done it 2 ways.
First I removed colonies and treated outside the tank.
Then I treated the whole tank. I left the FWE in the tank for 6-7 hours, then did a water change and added some carbon.
This does not get the eggs, so repeat treatments are needed.
Also this really puts some inverts like mini brittle stars into serious hurt.
I lost probably 1/2 to 3/4 of them.
I also removed as many snails and hermits before I treated the tank.

I found out that it kills snails as they are all dead in one tank I treated :0( The tank has had the FWE in it for about 15 hours. I'm making SW and it should be done soon:0) Did you use 4 drops per 5g? Did you treat like the write up suggests...one treatment for the next 3 weeks? I didn't have enough to treat all my tanks but the FWE will be here tomorrow so I can get this started right. I hate bugs! lol

A friend suggested I get a Melanarus Wrasse. Any experience with those?

When I treated my tank, I used a heavy dose. More than what is recommended on the box for killing flatworms. I think it was about 2 drops per gallon of actual tank water.
At the time I did mine, I only had zoanthids in the tank. They did fine. I'm not sure how other corals will do.
Plus, you need to do atleast a second treatment. I think I did 3 total, over 2 months.

As far as wrasses, many people recommend different ones. I had a green coris wrasse for a while that during that period, I don't remember having a problem with nudi's.
There was a big thread on Reef Central that had a list of wrasses people would say was there best friend.
