I've read about aquarium insurance online. There's a small chance that a leak or blowout will destroy your setup and your home. I have no idea how prevalent insurance is, but if I were to guess very few people bother.

Not something I've ever heard of, but I'd check my homeowner's/renter's/umbrella policy before paying for something like that as it may already be covered.
Also, if this is to deal with water damage to your house due to a broken tank, I'm not sure it really makes a difference if the person is a beginner or have had tanks their whole life.

Pretty sure this insurance doesn't cover anything tank related. Just home damage. With the costs of home insurance right now and the amount the premium would go up, I'd say no way.

For far less long term costs towels, a shop vac, and a couple floor driers rented from home depot is way more cost efficient.

My tank (and any damage caused to my house from it failing) are covered under my normal Homeowners insurance
