Does a Kessil X controller work with an A160 alone?

This is nuts. The light came with several different cables. Silly me for thinking the 0-10v cable that came with it and plugs into the controller would be adequate! lol I guess I'll search for and buy another wire. What a PITA!

I'm getting a little grumpy these days due to starting from scratch and having to purchase a hundred different things just to get going again before I've even thought about buying a frag. I've got a $5 float valve holding up progress atm and the light works without the wire so I suppose I need to chill out.
You'll b ok just take it easy and I Kno slow is not what you want to hear but your not alone.im some what n the same position just a little ahead. I've had nothing but positive experience with kessil and their product although I did think the new controller came w all cords but that's the only problem I've had for a while I ran my light on my own setting but didn't think I was getting the most for my corals so contacted kessil gave them the tank size and they sent me a schedule that follows normal day light and also told me my light has a chip that puts out the right part for my coverage area you can also pick the color you like to see out of the light as the lights to the corals I don't remember the word but their needs are met in a different spectrum. Any questions contact kessil they have been awesome . good luck n best of reefing.R

After searching the house for this type of charger I found an old Motorola cube that is 5 volt, 1.15 amp. Would it be ok to use this one even though it's .15 amp more than what it calls for?

Found out my wifes new Iphone 11 usb cube for chord is exactly 5v 1 amp and could be used for this but is needed for the phone. My Iphone 11 Pro max came with a totally different charger and the cube only has a fast charge style port. No USB plug ins. Local hardware store only cares 2.1 amp versions. How critical is it to get the amps correct? I know too low is bad. Is too high bad too?

1.15 is fine. The controller will only pull what it needs anyway.

Ok, thanks so much for your help guys. There's no customer service on Sundays except for the forums.

From what I'm seeing it already comes with the micro USB cable, you just need a wall USB plug from a phone or something. The specs say 1A so just make sure it's not the older little 500ma iphone cubes.
definatly will you do have to buy a 10v cord n plug them n to approiate places you will see where and your light powers the controller.dont worry about usb or anything else.the cord you need is at marine depot 20 dollars total and your set .i love mine and kessil will give you a schedule for your tank if you contact them and give tank size n or you can set yor own

Hey thanks but I didn't have to buy anything else. Check out post #25. It's on and running. The mini-USB/Large USB cable was in the controller's packaging. I just had to track down an old AC adapter cube plug that was 5v and 1 amp to plug the supplied wire into which I did find. Thanks.

You must use the 10 v cord and plug controller into light. The power supply for light will power everything and yes a controller will do a 160
