Hi

Does anyone know what causes the anemones to have sticky tenticles?

The reason I ask about the stickyness is because five days ago I bought this nem from my local Petco and once in the tank I noticed it has no stickyness. It's Mouth is closed and its coloration is brown/tan with purple tips. It also seems to have an issue attaching to rock '' so I surrounded it. I placed a 150 metal halide directly over it and the is a 206w T5 as well as a led. Both Haitian nems on the opposite side are doing well. The sense however does not seem to be. Not sure what or how I can even feed it?

Easy way to compare sticky tentacles is to compare it to a star fish's suction feet. They're for grabbing food and other objects. Without the stickiness, you'll have to place the food inside the mouth of the anemone

I'm not able to place food in its mouth as it is closed. Its tenticles have no stickyness what so ever.
Forcing food in its mouth I would have thought would harm it?

What about zoo plankton. If its not doing well would it be able to digest this food?

The stickiness is from the stinging cells shooting from the tentacles.
