Does anyone else hate the smell of phyto?

It smells weirdly sickly sweet to me, and I hate it.

I hate dosing phyto but my tank needs it. Lol

It's weird bc someone told me that sweet smell is how you can tell if the phyto is still good.

So if it smells like terrible death it’s still good?

I feel like I should add in that I just bought a bottle of eldridges blend, I haven’t noticed the same death stench from it that I remember from other phyto products. My reef is responding quite well to his blend.

I was like, wait if it smells like death that probably means its dead. But you probably meant that weird sweet smell.

I've only tried Reef Nutrition phyto so far, but every day dosing is a struggle with the smell

I’ll only be using Eldridge a live blend from here on out, so long as it is available. In case it’s not available; live only, not bottled and shelved products. Bottled live then shipped.

I can’t say I’ve actually smelled my Phyto containers on purpose, BUT, I surely don’t recall horrible smells while working with it; live culturing that is.

I have no idea how many times I nearly nuked a tank by reefing on reefer. I’m sure it’s a lot.

If it's fresh and alive there isn't too much smell at all.. dead and rotten yah it's got a cabbage smell to it yuck!

Yeah definitely. Did you keep it refrigerated? Possible it went bad on ya if you left it out of refrigeration for too long. I am generally familiar with reef nutrition because I use their roe and oyster feast, etc. but I am not as familiar with that particular product.
