Does anyone else use tap water to rinse their new sand?

I'm taking out my black sand for a while and trying aragonite. The switch is just to try a different look. There was nothing wrong with my black sand and it was not the same thing as you find in the commercial market. I'm planning on rinsing with tap and then RO/DI for peace of mind. I just want input before I commit to the project.

Some of my sand is over 20 years old and I've rinsed it many times.

I use tap water on the sand in my ten year old reef. the sand is the only thing totally clean in the system, its a zero diaper effect that still holds my rocks up well in the aquascape. tap is awesome, why pay with saltwater to rinse. I use saltwater in the final rinse, so that I stack the system back on top of wet clean saltwater sand.

That's what I do.

Hose outside. Put the hose in a 5 gallon bucket, pour in the sand on top of the hose, crank it wide open. Stir by hand until water runs out clear. One bag at a time. I did not do a rodi rinse. I laid the bucket down and let the water drain out.

This is my first time using commercially bought sand so I guess there is a first time for everything in this hobby.

I wash sand in tap water about a zillion times. It still always seems to produce a certain amount of cloudiness. I do rinse it out a few times with RODI to flush out any impurities in the tap water.

I use just the hose outside, pour off most of the water and then add a little Seachem Prime to declorinate etc.
