Does anyone have caulerpa for sale

I seem not to be able to grow chaeto. so would like to try caulerpa.

Have you tried sea lettuce? Can you tell me (and post photos) of your setup? We can try to troubleshoot.

Hi Algae Barn, I have not tried the sea lettuce. I have a little piece of chaeto that I bought from your company a couple of days ago. I could tell immediately that it was not doing well, I have been thru this before. But been reading a lot on the subject and thought I would try again, I did add some trace elements and some of the strands have turned dark green, but I dont know if it will pull through. meanwhile my phosphates are going up from the die off. Here is a pic of my refugium. its about 5gallons, I have water comming in from my display and water comming in from the sump from a pump. I have 6500k 75 to 100 watt equivalent led bulb that I keep on 24/7 and right now my phospahtes are .077 nitrates are about 2.5

Do you have a lot of nuisance algae in the display tank?

I would start the chaeto at 12/12 reverse light cycle.

very little nuisance algae, I had been dosing vodka to this point. I will try the light cycle change, but it might be to late for this batch

Have you been vodka dosing the whole time you have had the chaeto in the system? What are your current nutrient levels?

Thanks, I end up throwing a good bit away every time I prune the sump. If someone else can use it, I'd rather send it their way

no, I have not been dosing vodka since I put the chaeto in and made sure I had enough nutrients when I put the chaeto in. right now phosphates are .077 and nitrates are 2.5

Found this thread when looking to troubleshoot dying chaeto. I've been vodka dosing the whole time I've had chaeto, though my nutrients remain . . . let's just say elevated (around 40ppm nitrates, e.g.). Chaeto is dying on itself, but other macro like dragon's breath is flourishing. Could vodka dosing be to blame for dying, even if nutrients remain elevated? I have 18w ChaetoMax and 18w par38 refugium spectrum lights on a 20g refugium sump running about 12/12.

ok that works, if your chaeto is dyeing that might be causing the nutrient problem. I dont think you should do vodka and chaeto together, I went to sea lettuce (ulva) and its been doing well for me. I also found that mysis shrimp was the nutrient problem in my tank and I now rinse it.
