Does anyone know anything about the Stripey (or has kept it)?

I came across this fish that was originally mistaken to be a type of Butterflyfish, but it belongs to its own genus and from what I’ve read it seems to be a much easier alternative to butterflies or maybe even angels.

They get up to a maximum size about the same as one of the smaller butterfly species or one of the larger Centropyge angels.

I am not sure about the availability of these fish but I’m considering getting 2 or even 3 for my tank which will be a 4 footer.

I’ve also read some Chinese reviews from people who’ve kept these Stripeys and say they’re hardy and very easy to feed, aggressive eaters.

Have any of you come across these fish for sale, or even better, kept them? I would love more information on them.

The rest of my tank will be a Marine Betta (I’ve given up on pairing them), 2 Ocellaris Clowns, a basslet (undecided species), 5 PJ Cardinals, maybe a pair of Flame Hawks, and a trio of Azure, Springer’s, Talbot’s, King, or Greyback Damsels (Chrysiptera caesifrons).

If I get 2-3 of these Stripeys however I’ll ax the damsels and I won’t get an angel.

My concern is they’re really fast swimmers and aggressive eaters. Will they cause trouble for my Marine Betta, Hawkfish, Cardinals or maybe even the clowns?

From videos I’ve seen they are really common in shallow waters off the coast of northern Oz. If I lived there near the ocean I’d probably just collect 2-3 smaller specimens myself.

Mr Saltwater tank kept them a while ago he got rid of them i believe as they ate some species of corals
