I'm thinking of doing NSA rockwork for my new tank. I'm sure there's an alternative to EMarco 400. This is a thorite based mortot.. the safety data sheet attached available in the link says it's aquatic safe and inert. What do you think?

Not sure but often aquatic safe may pertain to swimming pools
Call or email manufacturer and see what they say

IMO, why risk it? It could have unknown chemicals (like whatever makes it waterproof), and because it has cement in it, it could mess with your pH unless you let it cure for 30 days.

What about the super glue and sand method?

I agree. While it may be a durable and strong mix it probably isn't worth the risk of potentially contaminating your tank. There are plenty of options like super glue/sand, non-toxic 2 part epoxy etc. that will work well.

I will never save $20 on something that looks like a good substitute and lose $300,400,500 in livestock

I'm not risking it. But I'm seeing if someone knows the answer. My guess is that EMarco 400 is a rebrand of an existing compound.
Again, have manufacturer verify/confirm your theory

Totally agree with this. I was looking to repair a small crack in a plastic pond liner and looked at some stuff that was referenced as aquatic safe. When I contacted the company they said that they can't guarantee livestock. If it doesn't say fish safe the company has to be contacted.

I'll contact the company but this looks promising.
