I’ve noticed some of my zoas getting these brownish black bushes growing in and through them. Any ideas on what they are and how to stop/get rid of them? Are they harmful? Should I dip the zoa to kill off this pest?

Algae...…...probably green hair algae. Can be several solutions but my first question is what are your water test results? High phosphates and or nitrates are the most likely cause often the result of overfeeding or using tap instead of RO water. There are several fish and invertebrates that will graze on it but not eliminate it. It can also take over your tank pretty quickly so it is not to be ignored.
