How can we serve?
Thanks Joe, since your here ;) I'm just kicking around a new 8ft build to replace an aging standard 180. I've never designed a tank as far as number of holes, placement etc.
The current tank has 2 hob overflows, one one in each back corner. They each have a single 1.5" drain. No emergency drain on either. I have a single 1"return. My sump is a repurposed 125g and is in my basement. Ideally if I do this would be to use the existing sump and just tie into the existing plumbing. Is this something you would even recommend? I know almost everyone has emergency drains but to be honest with two 1.5" drains and a single 1" return I'm not sure they are needed. I just don't know if I'm up to completely replumbing the entire system especially since it requires drilling more holes through the floor. I already have 2 holes in the dining room where I pulled a 150g that shared the basement sump :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
I don't chase 10x turnover and the drains and return are more for mechanical filtration and surface agitation. I have a quite a bit of flow in tank using power heads. Thanks

If I understand correctly ,you just would need 1more hole in floor, and a run of pipe ?
better safe than sorry, what's one more hole ... JMO
Best to talk to Joe directly... :)

Well good point. I didn't even think about using a single overflow I'm so used to having the two seperate hobs. A single overflow with 2 main drains and single emergency drain is that what your thinking? Plumbing just a single emergency drain would be doable. Thanks

when i had my sump in the basement in my other house i opened the sheetrock and drilled through the sill plate, so i didnt damage the floor.

I tell my Gal they make for a nice drain to the basement when I flood the place :face-with-tears-of-joy: Fortunatly the basement is not finished. The wall behind this tank is the basement stairwell. In hindsite I should have just went through the wall and had the plumbing in the stairwell.

Hi @exnisstech

Appreciate the details. This is tough to answer, there are so many more details to evaluate.

so, here's the good and tough thing. The awesome things is there are so many opinions and solutions and the tough part is there are so many opinions and solutions.

At first glance, yes that will work. Second thought, I have questions about the rest of the system. Probably much easier to talk about on a call though. let me know. 615-446-8877.

I do believe you are on the right track for what you want. that is key, what you want.

If you go to the glasscages website and select the "Bundle" button on the homepage, they list default build sizes up to 96". Price quote can include canopy and stand, sump might be the only thing missing.
FYI, we will be adding a sump option within a week.

Shipping is included
