I've been using a tunze 9004 for close to a year and can only get a light colored skim mate. Any tips?

Sorry I can't help with this, but I am having the same issue with my skimmer.
Hopefully someone can chime in and help us both :)

I actually have the same issue.....if I lower the bubble level the foam just kind of hangs at the top and doesn't make it into the cup....if I increase the bubble level I get the tea colored water :-(

Mine did that during the breaking, I have a different skimmer. It took me about 4 weeks to get mine pulling out the smelly gunk. Hate the smell, but like skimmer dryer vs wetter.

That's exactly what I'm dealing with. It must be doing something because the neck gets a nice sludge build up on it. I just miss the stinky skim mate from my big old skimmers, lol.

Mine seems to slowly be coming more consistent....maybe it is just an extended break in period. Although it has been a few months now. At least now the bubble level stays where I set it where before it was jumping all over the place. It seemed like everything I did would stop the foam production (changing filter socks, water tests, walking by the tank, breathing, etc lol). I am still getting the tea water but at least it is strong tea now.
