I have been thinking about running a closed loop on my 150g when I set it up. Maybe a 2500 gph pump split to four 3/4 inch sea swirls. It sounds good to me but just want to know others opinions.

We have a bottom drilled, 4 outlet closed loop w/an OM 4-way on our DT and are very happy with it.

We run 4 small Tunze 6055 Turbelle NanoStream pumps to add some spot flow for our corals in the top half of the tank. In our 300g DT, they are hardly noticeable.

We also run 1 Tunze 6105 Turbell Stream during the day that sits low in the tank and is hidden inside a Tunze rock in the back that is strictly for our Desjardini to use as his "endless pool". We added it for him because he was constantly making a circuit around the closed loop outlets waiting for them to open so he could swim in the "current", lol.

We mainly use our closed loop to avoid dead areas on the sand bed and in and around our rock work, as well as provide flow for corals in the lower half of the tank.

How is the flow.

well....keep in mind I have a small tank.....56 gallon but I am running a 1000gph CL on top of 750gph return and vortech's so I would say my flow is great :D.....pushing 5700+ gph through 56 gallons is pretty good flow...I believe

that is why i want to use sea swirls because they will cross path plus if my anemone goes wondering i dont have to worry about putting sponges on power heads. but in the long run i may have too. that is why im getting all the info.

you must have a sps tank because softies and lps wouldn't survive. lol

Actually it is an anemone tank....I have ricordia and zoanthids on the bottom....some Xenia and GSP.....some live plants....and SPS.....but the nems own the tank as that is what we are collecting....although you couldn't tell that when this is sitting in here.

i put a maxi jet 1200 with the eco mod in my 75 and everything went to one end. the end with the pump from the current hitting the other end and it is less flow. lol
