I'm wondering if the circulation pump that circulates the water within the calcium reactor matters or not?

Like, what do you mean?
It does need to circulate. Mine is a small pump. I don't know the actual model but it does the mid 100's for turn over.
Every calcium reactor has a circulation pump for circulating the water in the chamber media, so I'm thinking about a DIY calcium reactor, so hence my question if the internal circulation matters or as soon as you have some circulation is more than fine.

Yes, you need circulation.
Generally a manufacturers make bigger calcium reactors with bigger pumps smaller calcium reactors with smaller pumps.

No, you don't need a ton of flow.

Now the real question is what's the minimum/ideal internal circulation needed?

Mine is about this size. I'm at work right now so I couldn't tell you exact model but this is about right.
