I’ve been having an issue with controlling what I thought was cyano. It seems to have turned into a hair algae. I’ve used vibrant, ive used Dino x and now I’m using KH cyano clean. I’ve attached a photo. If anyone has any solutions, I’d love to hear about it. My nitrates were a bit high (40ppm)but everything else has been normal. I’ve been doing weekly water changes. I’ve had chaeto in my refugium but I can’t seem to keep it alive. I’ve got a feeling the two are connected somehow.

what are nitrate , phosphate and other parameters ?

After a really bad cyanobacteria issue I had an explosion of gha. I had dino to cyanobacteria to gha

I am in the Cyano stage. :(

I have heard ChemiClean works very well. But it kills off all algae's that I am aware of.

I have some in my drawer at the ready, but don't know if I want to use it.

I have some very cool and large Trochus snails and I don't want to starve them to death by killing off all the food.

what are nitrate , phosphate and other parameters ?
Ph 8.0
Ammonia .25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40
1.026
Mag 40 ppm
Kh 3.0 /8.4
Ca 5ppm
I don’t have corals, it’s a fish only tank with some emerald crabs.

Check your phosphate levels with a quality test kit such as Hanna. It should be above 0, but below 0.25 for minimal algae growth. Watch your feeding amount! As far as the cyano, bump up your flow 20% and wait two weeks. Might be gone.

I’m not sure if it was dosing phosphates or what. In my 75 and upgraded 90 I ended up with Dino and both times went trough the same stages. Dino Cyanobacteria gha.
