So I've had my tank up for about five months now, just fish only so far as I wanted to let it mature before I started adding corals. Well the time has come and I'm ready to start adding some frags. I started dosing a two part solution, specifically Seachem Reef Fusion. I did this to establish the calc, al, and mag levels needed for corals to thrive. I'm dosing slowly with a goal of 420 calc, 8.5 alk, and 1350 mag. I'm testing every few days but as I say the increase is pretty slow going on all elements.
Before I started dosing my glass was pretty clean it was only maybe once a week I'd need to scrape it down and even then it was nothing heavy. However now it seems like every 2-3 days I have a decent layer of film algae all over the glass. The dosing is the only thing that's changed, so maybe this is a fairly obvious answer, but could that be what's causing my new growth?
I ask because I thought the big 3 where to help coral skeletal growth, I didn't realize it would accelerate nuisance algae.
