Ok guys,
So I thought I could make it work for aquarium water with my filtration system I have now that I use for my drinking water but I don't think its going to be good enough to do my own water changes with it. I have tried but my parameters still aren't coming out exactly perfect. My LFS told me it would be fine but I still can seem to get my pH and others at zero. Does everyone just get their own RODI system eventually if they have a larger tank?? Bc trips every week or so to fish store with my big buckets seems like it's gonna get old pretty fast lol and is buying used an option?? Trying to find one that would be a good fit for my 70 gal.

Yes. I too started with getting water and it was fine... in the beginning. But the more time passed the more of a chore it was. I have a 75 gallon with a 15 gallon sump and I also have a 30 gallon. I bought this one on BRS and have been very happy with it.

Yes you have to have one for reefing. Running to LFS with 5 gallon buckets is costly and physically exhausting. They are not that expensive. You dont have to have auto shut off, just dont do multiple things at once when you are making water.

Ok thanks a lot I'm going to check it out now

To answer your question, yes! Look at bulk reef supply they have many good options. Also you will absolutely need one with an auto shut off. Hope this helps.
Ok thanks, guess I'll be investing in one lol

I would second the shut off, you can buys these floats also on BRS, super easy to use and cheap. Everyone has a busy life and forgets to check their water eventually.

Try this. Its a great option and wont break the bank. Its what i currently use. Comes with a float valve and pretty much anything else you’d need.

What exactly are you shooting for parameter wise? your pH will not be zero, even in perfect water. a pH of around 7 is fine.

I would suggest try craiglist or fb marketplace for a used system. Thats how I got my BRS 4 stage value plus for $100

If you are looking to buy new, get the one with water saver. It will save lots more water

My pH is actually not bad it's 7.8, but ammonia is creeping up and I can never get me nitrites to get below 0.50-1.0. And it keeps going up little by little over the weeks not down. So I'm thinking a decent water change might help a lot. But I don't want to use my filtration system I use for drinking water so I've been grabbing two 5 gallon buckets every 2 weeks and it's already getting to be a lot of work lugging then up 2 stories every time lol. ‍♀️

Is this the same thing as an auto shut off? Or is this separate

i have no idea what sort of filtration system you're currently using but perhaps it already has several of the necessary stages and you could just add di resin stages onto it or use higher quality cartridges in your existing containers...

Be careful with units like the Aquatic Life. They work, but these units only take proprietary filters. You can only buy replacements from Aquatic Life. With universal filters, there are lots of options so the filters are cheaper. There are also few data available about the quality and longevity of these filters.

I haven't done the math, but I'd be willing to gamble that a unit like those from BRS that accept universal filters would be cheaper over the long haul because the filters are cheaper and last longer.

Yes, same thing. There are different versions but I find this one the easiest to install. BRS also has a video on how to install it which I liked. If you are going to make your own water it can be really simple or really complex. If you search mixing station you will find a ton of different ideas. I went with as simple as possible, however, at some point I might try to put together a fancier, more complex station.
