I‘ve read several times that fish poop is a great food source for corals. how corals use the feces of fishes? Is it only a source of nitrate and phosphate or does it have any special constituents such as amino acids in it?
thanks!

Fish waste is primarily ammonia, which, in a properly cycled tank, is rapidly converted into Nitrate by bacteria through the nitrogen cycle. Fish poop may contain traces of amino acids from undigested proteins in fish food, but should not be used as a primary source of amino acids for corals.
