I dose fluconzaole to my 50 gallon total volume tank purely for green hair algae.

Today is day 8 and its already doing a massive job on the gha.

I wanted to dose some phytoplankton that I've been culturing in order to help with the gha.

Just wanted to know if fluconzaole kills phytoplankton.

Thanks!

Personally I would wait until after you have finished with the fluconzaole always pays to keep everything else stable when medicating a tank. The photo will help with removing the excess nutrients from the dying gha after

Good point!

I'll just keep culturing phyto while during treatment.

Yea my filter socks are picking up all the dead junk thats coming off the rocks whenever I scrub them down.

How long did you keep the fluconazole in the tank for?

I'm on week 2 and its doing wonders. The GHA is still growing but its WAY slower than how it used to grow.

I added all 10 pills that came in the Reef Flux bottle to my 50 gallon total volume system. I heard you cant really over dose.

Its really working well thoughl

Thanks!

I've never actually used fluconazole but I would expect 14 days would be plenty from other people's experiences. Keep an eye on your nutrients as I would imagine they could shoot up but it shouldn't be too bad if your filter socks are catching most of it. I would also consider manual removal of as much gha as you can to help.
