I guess you could say that the ones that are jerks no matter what are the guys that claimed the whole tank as their nem…

I would be careful with torches and clowns - if they are too rough they may kill it as torches are more sensitive.

Watch out; my husband trained ours to eat out of his hand without telling me... the next time I stuck my hand in the tank, they attacked. Once he stopped hand feeding them, they went back to normal.
I'm in the opposite boat. I've trained my gladiator pair to see my hands as a good thing. If I reach in there and I'm not feeding them, They get all shaky butt on my hands, swimming between my fingers, and the male rolls over and "pets himself" on my hands

plus I see too many "WHY IS MY TORCH DYING?!?!?!" threads. I don't think I have the right lights or care expertise to have one in my tank and I'm not much a gambler.

Frogspawn and hammer make good alternatives, much tougher. Though my indo blue tip torch has been one of my hardiest as of recent.

Maybe I’m the odd person out here, b/c my clowns are lovely! But I work w/them like I would a naughty puppy. The lady was beginning to get testy w/my hands and I was able to turn it around by working w/her and using food as the association w/me. She comes flying over every time she sees me now, expecting food. Me and my hand = food.

I was worried about her reaction when I added 3 nano gobies a few weeks ago but she’s been completely peaceful, just as she has been w/everything else in the tank. I also wonder if getting the clowns as little babies helped — they kind of imprinted on my blenny and love him even to this day.

I may give mine one last chance…if it gets mean in the 40 breeder it’s staying in jail though.
Maybe a future pair won’t be so mean.

Have you tried putting your hand in the tank without food now though? Would she be so kind?

maybe introducing another one at the same time you switch over to the breeder (with new territory) might work.....MAAAYBE...

Yeah, she’s fine. She comes over and follows me thinking I have food, and I always reward that by giving her food!

I know aggression can vary based on species. But, I'm curious if people have experience with the clownfish becoming more aggressive after adding an anemone, whether it be to other fish or you.
In theory, I would think them having something they are territorial over would encourage more aggression. But maybe not? My clowns are pretty chill considering some of the stories I have heard. My husband wants an anemone, but I'm afraid it will make them more hostile and territorial.

Hit me with your thoughts.

*humor is allowed and encouraged.
Got a pair of maroons which are supposed to b nasty. Mine have anemones and are very docile. Sometimes the large female (4") scuffles with my flame angel but the angel is the aggressor.
