I have found out over the years that there are no shortcuts in this hobby. So when I came across this product I'm left thinking it's too good to be true. Does it really work? Is it reef safe? I would be all for taking several months of cycle time out of setting up a tank.

It is nitrifying bacteria that gives your cycle a jump-start. I still prefer the old fashioned way of waiting that approximate month or so for the tank to cycle. I'd only use it in an emergency were I'd need that instant cycle.

+1. I did use Bio Spira when I was upgrading a tank and had OK results. I would recommend using a product like Dr. Tim's One and Only over the Bio Spira.

i've tried it before.... i dont think it really does much... still took the same amount of cycle time without it.... well atleast for me...

Thanks for the information. Its good to know that products like this are available. I think that I will just wait until I get some uncured rock to throw into the mix. I was just thinking that something like this would give my tank a boost before I get my rock. I have plenty of base rock that I'm going to use.
