Does it matter where gate valve goes on output/return?

Hi all

I'm planning on using a gate valve to precisely control the flow going to a UV sterilizer. The UV is plumbed inline with the return. Does it matter if I put the gate valve right after the return pump, just before the UV, or on the output of the UV? If it's inline then it shouldn't matter where it's located?

Doesn’t matter where. Put it where it’s most convenient.
