That a new acan frag just does not ever recover from shipping? I bought a flash sale acan from wwc and it's always been shriveled up and not grown and now even is receding but the other lps I got then is doing excellent and my other 2 acans get a new head per week and are very happy. Anything to try to bring it around?
Constant temp 78
Constant alk at 7.8
3-7 nitrate
Was at .02 phosphate but I took gfo off and has creeped to .07 over the last month.
Dose evenly through out the day/night

As stated I have no problems with any of the other dozen corals sps or lps. Just wondering if they sometimes never get over themselves.

Photon v2 40%
Had 6 weeks almost
Located 2 inches from 2 other acans on same rock in lower third.
I'll take pic later.

the lfs gave me a frag that was receding. there was only one polyp i placed it on the sand bed and it got worse. i moved it to a rock low in the tank and it got better i posted this photo else where but here is mine and it recovered. but since you had it for 6 weeks it must not like its spot. acan revive.jpg
the shrimp walked over it before the pic was taken last night
btw after moving the coral to the corner back portion of tank the necrosis has stopped but like you it wouldnt open 100% all day

The purple acan can be found in front of the two healthy ones and as you can see all corals look great but the one.

Flesh is receding, not flapping in the current or anything. Yes, I dipped the whole batch of 12 corals in the same manner using Bayer. I believe that was the only acan in that batch and the back two were there a time prior. However the birdsnest, hammer, 3 Monti caps, the jackolantern and more were all dipped like the acan and at the same time.

At this point I'm not going to change parameters in my tank, obviously the 15 other corals are fine and doing well and perhaps moving this Coral might help but to where I have no idea but I would figure it to be as well as the other two which have doubled in a month.

If you have a sure-fire suggestion I will pry it off and place it in suggested area but otherwise I'll just let it be and try another acan sometime later.

I have been running 7.5 dkh and I've been moving it up about .1 per week because I want to get to 8.5

you can use a iodine dip, it may fight off any infection. like
Seachem Lab Reef Dip (contains iodine)

are you also dosing calcium?

Dosing saturated kalk. Cal. Is about 465 or was. I'm wanting it down to 425-450 which it's getting there.

yeah you can its iodine. you can look up iodine dipping you may find some people using grocery store grade iodine. i would still use a marine grade product brand only because it comes with easy directions to follow >that is unbiased<

Okay I'll get some, and I'll pry it off the rock and blast it in a bowl and put it back on a rack until I get a solution.

sounds violent. wait until you get the medication. you dont want to stress it more than you have to in order to keep it alive. you may damage it more if youre too aggressive.

i do like the rack idea go ahead i didnt read the reply correctly

I don't think it's that violent I just met prying plug off the rock not directly on the coral.

yeah i realized it after i re-read your reply i just skimmed it. jumping from portfolio to forums gets tiring, but i don't mind
