I'm putting my tank together and I have been purchasing LifeRock for my tank. Is it really important to cycle this rock before using it in the tank? I started buying it for the reason that I wouldn't have to go through the steps of cycling live rock. Here is the link to BRS of where I bought it.

You will not need to cure the rock if that is what you are referring too as there are no dead organisms etc. on it. All rock, including LifeRock, will need to be cycled in the sense it needs to be populated by nitrifying bacteria.

Thanks All! That's what I was hoping to hear! About how long does it take for a 135gal tank to cycle on average?

Take a look at that video, it has some great information in it. In my opinion, the longer you can give it the better but it all depends on how quickly your bacteria population can break down ammonia. You can start cycling the rock in a heated bucket of saltwater with an ammonia source and bacteria supplement if you do not have the tank yet and that will drastically cut down your cycle time in the tank as the rock will already be populated and have a biofilm on it as well.

Its always best to stay with your posivity habits. Always cycle new rock, always Qt anything wet going in the tankie..
