My tank has always had elevated Mg amounts - no matter what salt I used (and I don’t dose mag). I’ve had a small fuge for a week and a half and my mag is finally within range. Is that why? I don’t test mag each week, and it’s been over a month since I tested it, but here’s my Mg chart.

That could be it. Magnesium is an important part of chlorophyll, so anything that uses large amounts of chlorophyll might uptake a lot of magnesium.

It could also be that one of your corals has just decided to start taking off and start growing, and that resulted in the sudden drop in Mg

I'm thinking it has to be the algae. My corals have all been growing quite well for several months - since I started daily dosing of Brightwell coralamino. I haven't seen a change in their growth. Or, perhaps it was a bad test. I think I'll retest it today. The other dip in my chart was a bad test on my part.
