He closed up yesterday and now he looks like this

He looks a bit ticked off. Have you had any parameter swings or made any changes recently? Mine gets that way on Saturdays when I do tank maintenance, but is back to normal in a few hours.

Yes if
- the lights just came on or
- you just added it to the tank

No if
- lights have been on for a while or
- it's been in the tank for a while and used to look better

To add, my Duncan will retract with about any change in the tank in regards to lighting or chemistry. It also tends to close up earlier than most other corals as nightfall approaches.

Thanks for the replies. I added him to my tank on Saturday, and I did my water change on Sunday. It looked fine in the tank before Sunday.

I would just let it be then, changing things or moving locations may stress it even more. Unfortunately, corals don’t talk otherwise this hobby would be a lot easier haha. If it still looks bad after a few weeks or is getting progressively worse looking by the day then I would attempt to move it in a last ditch effort (this would be my plan but do what you think is best).

Duncans react to changes in water even at water changes. They do best at lower half of tank under moderate light and water flow and feed mysis shrimp- not powdered food such as roids and assure Phosphate level not elevated. Here is some of mine:
