Hi All.

I have shut down my 4 foot tropical tank and plan to use it as a frag tank plumbed into my main tanks sump. The tank already has 2 bulkheads in the base which were connected to the in and out of the canister filter. I was hoping to use these 2 existing bulkheads as 2 drains which look to be about 1 inch each. The main drain would be a durso near the surface acting as a full controlled siphon and 1 standard emergency next to it.

My question is, if my durso is near the surface, and my sump can handle the water should there be a power outage, do I need a weir? Also, if I have good surface agitation, I shouldn't get a film buildup.

Can you see any issues as a result of not having a weir? would it be noisy?

Thanks

I would of course put a long strainer guard in the two drains..
