I’m burning through a lot of tropic Marin pro to support my QT efforts.....is it fine for me to use Regular IO or is there a benefit to matching the tank?

I just bought a bag of instant ocean two weeks ago because I got tired of dumping cups of TMP into quarantine only to drain it a week later. I don't think it hurts anything.

If its just a fish QT, then it doesn't matter, just the salinity matters. If you are QT'ing corals then some may say yes and other no. As long as the parameters are close then I would say it doesn't matter, but it does give you a piece of mind knowing the parameters of the water you are putting in.

I use TM as well. I use my DT water from water changes to support my QT

Ya I would say fish no biggie. You’re going to acclimate the fish to your DT. I’m sure my LFS doesn’t use my same salt. I’d also say it would be more effective for corals because of the stability aspect.

Have been tempted to test morton sea salt on my qt as i can get a 50lb bag from my restaurants supplier for $30 lol. Havent as not sure the amount of testing is worth the savings.

I switched from TM Pro in my display to plain Jane IO in my QT without issue. $35 versus $100 is a no brainer.
